Vision:  In music class outstanding, responsible and cooperative students work together to share a variety of artistic music and develop music literacy skills.

Mission:  Students will be actively involved in music through singing, moving, listening, playing instruments and creating music. 

Students at Swans Creek Elementary School have a 45 minute music class every five days.  Emphasis is on experiencing music through singing, movement, playing instruments and listening to music.  Instruction on playing portable keyboards and reading music is part of the curriculum for grades 3, 4, and 5.  Third graders will perform a concert or musical in March.

Fourth and Fifth Graders have the option of joining the Swans Creek Chorus.  Here is a picture of them doing choreography with one of the songs in their concert last year.  See below for more information.

Fifth grade students may sign up to learn the violin, viola or cello.  Strings instruction is provided by Ms. Ioana Weathers.  She will be visiting fifth grade classes early in the school year to pass out information. 

I invite you to contact me if you would like to share your musical talent with our students at Swans Creek.  I am especially interested in having parents who play instruments come in and play them for our students.
